Limited Edition Whiskey Stout Barrel-Aged Coffee

It's back and maybe our best one yet: our annual barrel-aged coffee!
This year, we've collaborated with our friends at Knack Brewing and Fermentations in Kankakee, Ill., and we're excited to offer a unique, limited edition coffee this holiday season.
We started with two whiskey barrels from KOVAL in Chicago that Knack used to age their North River Noir: an Imperial Stout brewed with a myriad of base and specialty malts and hopped with East Kent Goldings. Itβs 12% ABV and spent nine months in the barrels.
The day after the stout was dumped from the barrels, we took an unroasted washed Guatemala coffee and put 60 pounds in each barrel. After two weeks, the coffee had absorbed much of the moisture in the oak, so we took the coffee out and roasted it to a pretty true medium level.
The result is a complex, unique coffee with flavors that represent both the KOVAL whiskey and stout. We get medium body and notes of whiskey on the nose with a nutty caramel, cocoa body and a boozy stout finish.
Don't worry, though. It has an ABV of 0% so anyone can enjoy.
