We taste caramel, chocolate and a green apple-like note in medium-light roast offering from CAFEUNO in Honduras.
Started in 2015, CAFEUNO is a group of small cooperatives located in the southern part of the country, in the El Paraíso region near the Nicaraguan border. It’s managed by Williams Alexander Romero Gradiz, a fourth-generation farmer himself. Williams oversees seven CAFEUNO employees and more than 150 contributing farmers.
The roast level and body in this coffee is similar to our Guatemala La Leona, and we enjoy it on traditional batch brew machines as well as a pourover.
Like in other parts in Central America, a major challenge in El Paraíso is the aging farmer population. CAFEUNO has responded with programs for young producers, who are increasingly committed to improving quality each growing season. Among CAFEUNO's goals for 2025 is to onboard 20 new young coffee producers.
