Our Gold Series of coffees feature premium, limited-edition offerings that represent the truly special side of coffee. We purchase small amounts of ones that we find unique and interesting, and we roast them until they're sold out. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Production volume in Papua New Guinea has declined significantly over the last three decades, yet it produces some splendid coffees, including this one from the Eastern Highlands region that features unique cherry and banana notes.

Most coffee grown in PNG is washed, either at mills near the main highway that winds through the central mountains or by producers themselves on their small, isolated farms. This one, however, comes from the Lahamenegu mill, the largest in the country and one that is known to experiment with unique processing methods.

PNG's high altitude, rich volcanic soil and frequent rainfall create ideal growing conditions and often yield complex coffees that have a buttery mouthfeel and tropical fruit notes. We're loving this one as a pour over — like on a Kalita Wave — which seems to accentuate those fruity notes.
