Nicaragua Sabino and Maria Jesus

This coffee comes from Sabino and Maria Jesus, a husband-wife team growing coffee and vegetables at the highest altitudes in the Jinotega region of Nicaragua.

If you were to visit the Sabino and Maria's farm, La Fuente, you may see Sabino still using two oxen to pull a cart or plow a field before planting. He is continuing the tradition of his late father, Don Jose, whose farm boasts excellent altitude and climatological conditions for coffee production.

The attention Sabino and Maria pay to the details on their farm bodes well for their ability to consistently produce high-quality microlots. They hope to plant more coffee and implement new, more efficient techniques — which, they say, will allow them to hire more workers and make renovations on the farm.

This coffee is juicy and smooth, with fruit notes of pear, craisins and apple.
